Use Aloe Vera to Reduce Uric Acid in Your Body
Ever felt aches and pains in your joints that prevent you from doing anything even though you have not done any strenuous physical activity recently? If you get this often and suffer from pain especially in your big toe, then you may have symptoms of gout, which is an ailment caused largely by high levels of uric acid in the body.
What is uric acid?
It is essentially the compound C5H4N4O3, formed when the body breaks down purines which are present in food and drinks such as organ meats, fish like sardines and yeast. Normally, the body is able to flush out uric acid as the blood carries it to the kidneys to be filtered. However, when there is a high concentration of uric acid in the body, a condition called hyperuricemia occurs. Having hyperuricemia can lead to gout attacks. It can also lead to other chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and kidney disease.
How can Aloe Vera help?
Aloe vera gel comprises of almost 99% water and other beneficial plant cells, making it a great anti-inflammatory and alkaline-forming food. One great benefit of eating such alkaline-forming foods include lowering and regulating the PH levels within the body. Due to the aforementioned properties, aloe vera can help to neutralise the uric acid within the body and help it achieve an optimal PH level, which is between 7.0 – 7.4. It is between these levels that the good bacteria can flourish within the body, and it is also an indication that uric levels have balanced out.
Another good property of aloe vera is that it facilitates detoxification of any impurities within the body and can aid in further flushing out the elevated levels of uric acid. The minerals, vitamins, enzymes and amino acids within the plant work together to reduce free radicals in the body, and also boost the removal of metabolic waste from the body. Being anti-inflammatory, aloe can also provide relief from any aggravating upsets in the digestive system and also soften the aches and pains caused by the high uric acid levels in the blood.
Things to note
When you enlist the help of aloe vera however, one must also make sure to drastically reduce or eliminate the consumption of sugar and purine forming foods in their diet. This is because sugar compounds, especially those coming from High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), form sugar acids when broken down by the digestive system, and can also create an acidic blood. Continuing on a fast food or junk food diet is very likely to escalate the problem rather than solve it, even with drinking aloe vera juice.
Using home remedies such as this may be a great way to cure ailments naturally, however if your symptoms do not dissipate after continued consumption of aloe vera or if the high levels of uric acid are affecting your daily movement, then it is best to consult your general practitioner for the best medical advice.
